The southern suburbs of Athens are full of organised and unorganised beaches. Exploring them, one can find hidden treasures. Thymari, just after Palea Fokea, is one of them.
This is a beautiful beach with wonderful waters, but not so easy to access. To get there, on the way from Glyfada or Athens towards Sounion, you will meet the beaches of Anavyssos, Palea Fokea and Thymari (the one with the famous beach bar). So after you see the sign for the famous beach of the same name, in the next few meters you will see the unique exit with a parking area on the road. This is where you will park your vehicle – there may already be some people there watching the view.
The access to the “hidden” creek is from the side of the stream towards Sounion, i.e. from the point where you walk parallel to the main creek backwards. Going down the dirt road requires special care as there are not only dirt, but also stones and gravel that are slippery. Your destination will make up for this difficulty in access though.
The beautiful creek has rocks in the shallows, so you need to be careful on the first steps. Afterwards you can enjoy awesome dives, take your mask and see the beautiful seabed and sunbathe in a peaceful spot without noise and crowd.
