The Athenian Riviera and the coastal front in general, that starts from Faliro, up to Sounion, is a pole of attraction for investments related to tourism, with plans for luxury infrastructure – whether these are hotels or developments of other tourist interest – to constantly make their appearance.
Both domestic and foreign investors seem to increasingly ‘trust’ areas such as Glyfada, Voula and Saronida, putting them on their investment portfolio list. Perhaps some of the most notable examples are those of the luxury One & Only Aesthesis Hotel, which will transform and give new life to the Asteria Glyfada, and the “Saronida Olympos Golf Project”, which will include hotel units and residential complexes, spread over an area of 6,500 acres.
Asteria in Glyfada
In Glyfada, next summer, the ultra-luxury One & Only Aesthesis hotel is expected to start its operation in the former Asteria. that is being constructed by the real estate investment, strategy and asset management company Grivalia, will include 115 luxury rooms, 14 tourist residences, 12 suites, an exhibition area and multipurpose hall, 2 restaurants, archaeological walks, activity areas for children and teenagers and a rejuvenation centre.
One of the two two-storey buildings of the hotel complex, the one with a curved shape, will be the main reception building. In it will be developed a branded restaurant, a nursery, as well as 12 rooms. In addition, the architectural design provides for the creation of 95 furnished apartments, while 14 independent energy-independent residences will be developed on the western boundary of the site, with private outdoor space and parking.
In two of the buildings of the complex, seven more residences of 152-199 sq.m. each and seven hotel rooms of 72-75 sq.m. each will be created. Furthermore, a separate residence, with a total area of 162 sq m, is planned, consisting of three independent buildings, as well as a gym, staff quarters for the presidential suite and support spaces. Among other things, the resort will become a gastronomic destination and a beach club will be created.
As far as the free and undeveloped part of the area is concerned, about 200,000 units of urban vegetation will be planted with trees and shrubs that will contribute to the radical transformation of the urban landscape.
Τhe Glamping in Voula
This is another project of Grivalia in the southern suburbs and in essence we are referring to the development of the abandoned site of the former camping of Voula. With this investment, the existing tourist camp of the Greek National Tourism Organisation will be revived, with the final classification of the facility in the 5-star category, transforming it into a modern form of glamping.
The investment will be spread over an area of 45 acres in Voula and will include, among other things, 30 luxury tents, shops, a gym, catering facilities, a spa and 8 tennis courts. As part of the redevelopment of the entire area, it is also planned to create, in addition to glamping, a restaurant, cinema, gym, spa, sports fields, outdoor seating, a network of pedestrian and cycle paths, a playground and a refreshment area. In addition, there will be dense planting on the site. AS.P.A, Chadios, Eufemia Zampouni, LDK Consultants and Prolight have been responsible for the design. The luxury resort is expected to open its doors in 2023.
Saronida Golf
The Saronida Olympos Golf Project is expected to become a powerful investment and tourism pole in the Attica basin, which has been included in the fast track implementation scheme by the Interministerial Committee for Strategic Investments. The investment has a budget of EUR 840 million and will cover a total land area of 6,000 hectares in the Saronida area. The project has been undertaken by Beta Real Estate Development.
The project, called by many the “little Greek”, will include hotel units and residential complexes, commercial areas and the largest golf course in Attica, 18 holes and international standards. The coastal front will also be shaped, and there will be works for the docking of boats (marina).
Among other things, renewable energy facilities will be created for the production of electricity, while a significant part of the area will be covered with greenery.
Το the five-star resort in Pounda Zeza
The Israeli Brown Hotels company is also investing in the Athenian Riviera, with the creation of a four-star resort near Sounion and specifically in the seaside area of Punta Zeza, in the area where an abandoned hotel is located. The hotel, named Isla Brown Sounion, will comprise 2 buildings on a 33-acre site, overlooking the sea, and will operate as a 4-star resort with 179 rooms and suites (406 beds). It will also include a swimming pool, spa facilities, a gym and a conference area for 500 people. The resort is expected to be operational in 2023.
